How do I restart DBSight ?

Submitted by keaves on Wed, 2012-08-01 10:57.General Discussions

I know that there is a START.JAR and STOP.JAR for dbsight. What I need is a way to restart the currently running engine.
The problem is that I have several jobs that are being scheduled every few minutes to update 8 different searches. If one of these jobs is missed and not run since a current job is running then non of the remaining jobs and any new jobs added will not be run.
I want to do a cronjob that will restart the currently running engine instead of having to stop it first then wait some time to make sure it is stopped and then start it again.

I am using DBSight v3.3.2(b266)

Thank you,

Add single document to search engine

Submitted by keaves on Thu, 2012-06-14 08:56.General Discussions

I have a program where the users do frequent updates and/or additions to sql records. The program uses keyword to exclusively find data. I have a schedule that every five minutes I initiate an incremental indexing for the updated sql data. The problem is how do I search on the data that was added between scheduled indexing?
Is there a way to add just one document to the text search so that a new document that is created in sql can be search for.

Thank you,
Kevin

auto suggest's result missing some content

Submitted by merlin on Tue, 2011-05-17 09:09.General Discussions

Hi all,

I have a question on auto suggest.
for example, i have someone's name 'B Thomas' in the index, when i do auto suggest, by typing in B, i will not get B Thomas, instead i get other names that has B in it, such as 'Ben'. If i type in Thomas for auto suggest, B Thomas doesn't show up in the list either. But if i hit enter on the search box, B Thomas is there. Do you know what i can do to have B Thomas show up in the list?

thanks

Special Characters in search

Submitted by prkumar on Mon, 2011-05-16 08:33.General Discussions

Please clarify how the special characters are handled in dbsight search.
I have a product with label e.g. 'Air %$@# Heater' which is not returned on search for that string. As it seems the special characters are simply ignored unless they are wildcard searches.

Multi index and multi server environment

Hi Chris/Will,

Few more doubts on Multi search server and multi indexing (each search server have same index files) environment.

I have one indexing server and 2 search servers. I put index file from indexing server to the 2 search servers

1. I created two dbsight jetty environments. One is running on 8080 and other on 9090. Both instances have same index file and UI templates
I used URL: http://localhost:8080/dbsight/search.do?indexName=customfetcher1,customfetcher1@127.0.0.1:9090&templateName=&q=DBSight
Following is the first few lines of error from instance running on port 8080:

Search outside of database: facing setup issues

Submitted by itsvasu on Wed, 2010-12-01 22:06.General Discussions

I need to use "Search outside of Database" implementation for my requirement. I have table with id, file_path, created_on columns.

I though of implemnting following DumbFetcher

public class DumbFetcher extends AbstractFetcher {

    @Override
    public void execute(Properties p, long lastRunTime, List<Column> columns) {
  1. . Execute: select id, file_path, created_on from files_list
  2. . For each record
  3. . <<FileTypeFilter>> ft = new <<FileTypeFilter>>()
  4. . ft.add("id", id);
  5. . ft.add("file_stream", new <<Custom_API_to_get_String>>(file_path).toString());
  6. . ft.add("created_on", created_on);

Input ACL details to search engine and filter result based on ACL

Submitted by itsvasu on Wed, 2010-12-01 02:09.General Discussions

Hello All,
Is there any plans to include ACL details to the search engine and returns the search results based on ACL details?
For e.g. if user dont have read access to document, he couldn't see the search result related to that document.
Whats the vision of the DBSight team on ACL prospective?
I searched on ACL but couldn't find any hits.
Including ACL will lead to user management, storing ACL setting to document etc... which add more disk space and complexity but still i would like to know the stand of DBSight team and any recommendation on implementing filtered search based on ACL.

Word with accent, for example "Téléphoner"

Submitted by ophiuchus on Fri, 2010-08-20 01:25.General Discussions

Hi,
I don't understand why it's doesn't work.
In fact, when I write "Téléphoner" in the search field, and then I press Enter, Dbsight change the word in the search field like that : téléphoner. All the words with accent are like that.
So the result are incorrect.
Can you help me please?
